Movie Coraline!
Coraline (2009) is a stop motion animated dark fantasy horror film written and directed by henry selick. it was procuded by laika as the studio's first feature film! the musical score (which is one of the best scores ever) was composed by bruno coulais. the film's budget was $60 million and it earned $124.6 million at the box office!

i love coraline so much, she is my favourite character in the whole world and of course it's my favourite movie and book! i hope you enjoy this little shrine i made for her!
me and coraline: i was coraline for halloween twice! once with her iconic rain coat and the second time was her starry sweater outfit! i had a 'welcome home' cake like hers for one of my birthdays and i currently own one funko pop of hers (the one that came with the cat!).
book coraline!
coraline was published in 2002 (i was 5) by british author neil gaiman; who started writing coraline in 1990. it was awarded the 2003 nebula award for best novella, and the 2002 bram stoker award for best work for young readers. (the picture i provided is the exact copy i own hehe)
here are some differences the book has compared to the film adaptation:
- wybie: he doesn't exist in the book, which is even more scary because coraline had to go through all of this, all on her own!
- setting: the book is set in england whilst the movie is set in america
- mr bobinski: his name is bobo in the book, and he raises rats instead of mice.
- the dogs: miss spink and miss forcible's yorkishire terriers actually speak in the book (well, in the other world any case).
- the other mother is so much scarier in the book: in fact, she told coraline that she put her own mother in a grave and pushed her back in when she tried to climb out...yikes.
however many differences there are, both the book and the film are both amazing. and remain my favourites always.
